J-GO was conceived as a social enterprise in the 90’s and has an eclectic and storied history, the last ten years of which, can be discovered below.
2020
Project Delivery
A BSBT (Building Stronger Britain Together) Call 4 funded project to develop a motion-picture comic character, targeted to 12 to 16-year-olds as a format for adding safeguarding teacher to introduce and explore difficult issues and develop critical thinking skills. The on-line element of the project being based on Instagram, with accompanying classroom materials and tutor session notes. All original creative work is complete for the first two introduction comics, with a phased Instagram launch scheduled from April 2020.
A BSBT (Building Stronger Britain Together) Call 3 major grant funded project to maintain consistent production onto the Instagram platform, major events once per quarter, outreaching to school’s partners in LB Barking and Dagenham, Redbridge and Tower Hamlets and expand the reach of the project from the original Instagram platform to now include a new YouTube channel.
Consultancy
Production of a series of Health and Safety short form videos distributed to CRISIS at Christmas centres throughout London, to provide instruction on preparation and supply of services and products by volunteers and support staff to homeless people.
2019
Project Delivery
A BSBT (Building Stroger Britain Together) Call 3 funded major grant project to consistently produce engaging online content each week for the primary Instagram Platform: replicated onto the original Facebook platform and also replicated onto the Twitter platform with accompanying Face2Face workshops for schools and community Venues in LB’s Barking and Dagenham, Redbridge and Tower Hamlets.
Funded by MoHCLG (Ministry of Communities, Housing and Local Government), with total grant funding to the partnership of five CVS organisations of £2.1 Million over 6 years from 2013 to 2019, with JGO acting as the creative content makers and the partnership grant administration hub. A full project evaluation published highlighting the English language learning achievements of 7,800 individual learners, across 22 London Boroughs, of which 80% were women, with the lowest levels of English proficiency.

Commercial commission to construct a new website and content creation for BD Group, a £30 Million T/O organisation, based in LB Barking & Dagenham.

A partnership project working with APASEN, Ocean Somali Community Association, the Limehouse Project and the Evelyn Oldfield Unit.
BSBT (Building Stroger Britain Together – Home Office) project providing dual face-2-face and online learning project for girls and women to respond to the ideological challenge of extremism in all its forms. Works with young women 12-18, their mothers and older female family members living in Tower Hamlets, east London, with a global online audience of 445,311. A J-go Training direct delivery project.
NOMS (National Offender Management Services) funded proof-of-concept project, working in partnership with HMP Standford Hill, using tablet based curriculum, on-line and face-2-face for in-cell education and as a rehabilitation tool for ex-offenders, on release.
Negotiation of lease and 6 weeks refurbishment of warehouse into office and studio to relocate JGO to Barking and Dagenham, culminating in ‘Open Day’ held on 5th December 2018.

For Newman Catholic College’s Syria Summer Camp Project, with concept creation, film production, campaign management and administration for the 28-day appeal. Resulting in one of the most successful school’s crowdfunds to date, exceeding the initial target of £10K, by raising £17.5K in all.

For CVS to oppose LBTH ‘market value’ proposals for all community premises and wholesale disposal of community premises throughout the Borough.
Continuation of development proposal for Dawatul Islam UK & Eire’s asset base in the Watney Market District Centre, in association with Catalyst Regeneration, linked to the LDF Tower Hamlets Core Strategy, The GLA London Plan and the City Fringe Opportunity Area.

For the Community Development Foundation. Working with 80 young people, their teachers and tutors from all faiths to develop the confidence and skills to bridge a range of cultural divides and help them to link successfully into mainstream UK society. A J-go Training direct delivery project.
For Al-Huda Mosque and Cultural Centre. A series of training classes based on “Life in the UK – A Journey into Citizenship 2nd Edition, to prepare participants from the local Somali community for the UK Citizenship Test.

For City YMCA London. A mapping and research exercise of the Isle of Dogs area to determine whether existing community programmes/services meet community need and to identify other services that could be accommodate in the area.
For Woodberry Works (MHDT). An accredited vocational construction skills training project for your people in Manor House, associated with the Woodberry Down Regeneration Programme.
For The Limehouse Project. A major grant and loan finance application to part-finance a new headquarters premises for an established charity.
For Tower Hamlets Homes sponsored community organisations; Somalia Heritage Group, Parkview TRA and Parkside Youth Link, with recommendations for training and premises development.
